Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the Electro-Acuscope / Myopulse system?
The Electro Acuscope and Myopulse is a set of highly sophisticated micro current medical instruments.
The Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse are FDA approved, Class II medical devices are input/output-controlled instruments designed to read and treat at 100 x per second.
The Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse are FDA approved for the following:
- Relaxation of muscle spasms/pain management
- Prevention or retardation of tissue atrophy
- Increasing local blood circulation
- Muscle re-education
- Immediate post-surgical stimulation to prevent venous thrombosis
- Maintaining or Increasing range of motion.
The Acuscope is designed to scan and treat many types of painful conditions using artificial intelligence and an internal read and treat mechanism. The instruments use electricity to reduce pain by stimulating the nervous system without being invasive in any way. As a result of the read and treat ability of this equipment, you and your therapist are able to see and track you or your animals’ progress and how well you or your animal is receiving the treatment. In this way we can also track what, if anything, needs to be adjusted.
The Myopulse gently stimulates muscles, tendons, and ligaments, reducing spasm and inflammation and strengthening tissue damaged by traumatic injury. Together they make up the most technologically advanced and effective electronic therapy equipment in health care market today.
Who uses this Equipment?
The Acuscope and Myopulse are currently being used by professional athletic teams, sports medicine practices, hospitals, and thousands of private doctors and therapists in every field of medicine throughout the world. It is an F.D.A approved, class two medical device and many outstanding athletes have been helped by the treatments including but not limited to, the San Diego Chargers.
The Acuscope/Myopulse system has extensive application in veterinary medicine as well as human medicine. It is highly effective for both small and large animals. It has been used with remarkable success to treat equine athletes in every field of equestrian competition over the past ten years. The number of equestrians, trainers and vets is steadily increasing as people look for more effective, long term results for their equine partners.
How do these instruments work?
The Acuscope and Myopulse system works by establishing a two way communication between their own circuitry and the electrical signals from the areas of the body being treated. Using biofeedback technology, they measure the tissues conductivity and cell captaincy. Generally speaking, tissue conductance is very low in an area of chronic pain and abnormally high in areas of inflammation, due to an increase of fluid in the area.
In order to correct abnormalities and bring the body back into homeostasis, the treatment introduces gentle currents in wave forms similar to the body’s own electrical signals.
The Acuscope is programmed to generate the current required by the damaged tissue to aid it in returning to a normal, pain free state.
The Myopulse sends corrective signals to specific to muscle and connective tissues so that the cells can begin the work of self repair.
Because the current is as bio-identical, or as similar, as the bodies natural electrical output as possible, the body accepts it easily rather than working to resist it. As a result, the animal is able to relax and receive the complete treatment and get maximum results.
How much electricity does the Electro-Acuscope / Myopulse produce?
The amount of electricity generated by the instruments is measured in micro-amps, an extremely tiny amount of current in comparison to the amount of electricity flowing from a wall socket or from any other common electrical device. It has been scientifically proven that this low level of current produces the most beneficial effect on the body's cells.
Both instruments produce battery-generated electrical signals in patterns similar to and compatible with that produced by the body's own normal, healthy cells - the kind and level of energy that is constantly flowing through every living person and animal.
Because the system is battery operated there is no risk of a surge or change in the electrical output, guaranteeing a consistent and safe treatment every time.
Are there research findings available that support the use of the Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse?
Yes, studies have found that the Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse positively effect the production of ATP, sodium pump effect and Krebs cycle of the cell, thus enhancing the cell’s ability to reproduce itself in a regenerative, instead of a degenerative, phase.
In 1991, two research scientists, Dr. Erwin Neher and Dr. Bert Sackmann won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine by detecting electrical currents of a trillionth of an ampere in the membrane, or surface of a cell. These findings substantiate the viability of this healing modality. In addition the intelligent “cybernetic” (missile guidance technology) chips in the Electro-Acuscope ensure that there is never any electrical bombardment on the body.
Additional research findings have shown increased range of motion, a decreased healing time and progressive wound healing through the use of the Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse.
How does the Electro-Acuscope reduce pain?
In many ways, the cells of a living body act like tiny batteries, storing and releasing energy. Each cell has a measurable electrical charge. Therefore, there is a constant energy flow maintained between cells throughout the electrical circuitry of the body.
When damage or trauma occurs, there is a disruption in the production of electricity and a measurable decrease in the flow of energy through the tissues involved. This condition is called electrical resistance and is generally accompanied by pain in the area of injury.
During a treatment, the Acuscope introduces mild electrical current into the cells of the body in order to return the tissue to a normal level of electrical activity. This process may be best described as a "jump start" of the cells ability to regenerate and heal.
By providing beneficial electrical current, the treatment causes the body to improve circulation, as well as produce and more effectively utilize proteins and other nutrients required for cell metabolism and repair.
In this way, the instrument assists the body in accelerating the natural self-healing processes. Additionally, mild electrical current causes the body to generate chemicals called endorphins which are naturally occurring pain suppressors. The immediate pain-relieving results allow for your animal to be comfortable almost immediately while the long-term benefits of the Electro-Acuscope / Myopulse treatments are reached.
Is this like a TENS device?
The Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse are considered TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) devices in that they use electrical stimulation. Unlike some TENS devices that simply block a pain signal or increase blood flow the Acuscope and Myopulse have a delivery and read treat mechanism that enhances cell food (ATP) production, essentially taking a cell to a regenerative state electrically.
How many treatments will I or my Animal need?
The number of treatments required will depend on the severity and extent of the condition as well as the body's ability to heal itself. Age, general state of health, habits, and even state of mind may influence the length of time required for complete recovery. Somewhere between five and fifteen treatments is the average.
Unlike other forms of pain relief, such as therapy with certain drugs or higher amperage electrical stimulators, the body does not build up a tolerance to Acuscope treatments. With many pain medications and most hi-amperage devices, prolonged use requires higher and higher doses of medications or increased time and greater amounts of electricity to achieve the desired pain reduction effect.
With Electro-Acuscope / Myopulse treatments, sessions of a shorter and shorter duration produce more dramatic and longer-lasting effects, until treatment is no longer required. The pain relief that follows each treatment of a given area will last longer and longer, and each successive treatment will require a shorter amount of time to be effective.
What can I expect when I go for a treatment?
The Technician will administer micro-current treatment using either plates or probes or a combination of both applied to specific areas of your body. An electrolyte gel will be applied to the plates and probes to facilitate conductivity of the equipment's output. You should always be comfortable during the treatment—if you begin to feel any discomfort, such as a stinging, let the practitioner know so that they can adjust the equipment accordingly.
Treatments are approximately one hour. You may be asked to perform some specific tasks during the treatment to determine the next course of action (i.e., moving in the area of pain—an arm, a leg, bending at the waist etc.) Prior to and at the end of each session you will be asked a number of questions about any changes you may have noticed.
Prior to beginning treatment the practitioner will discuss your case with you and ask questions about your situation to determine an appropriate starting point for treatment. Dress comfortably in sweats or loose clothing. You may need to remove some clothing to facilitate access to the areas of pain. The practitioner will provide a means to keep you draped for comfort. During treatment you will experience a very relaxed state of mind.
What kind of results can I expect from treatments?
Typical Patient Responses range from immediate and complete recovery in one treatment to an initial increased discomfort then slow and steady recovery. In some cases it may take 3-10 treatments before a breakthrough occurs.
The effectiveness and sustainability of the treatments is always relative to the patient and their commitment to supporting the healing process, which includes proper hydration, nutrition and physical exercise.
Why are the results from an Myopulse/Acuscope treatment cumulative?
Mild current stimulation has been proven to cause the cells of the body to increase production of the chemical adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP), or cell food, which is responsible for cellular energy production.
It has also been shown to increase protein synthesis, which allows the cells to begin to repair themselves. This low level of current is known to improve certain cellular functions that pump ions (such as sodium, calcium, potassium, etc.) into the cells, and to increase the transport of waste products out of the cells, aiding in the flushing of toxins from the tissue.
As these chemical reactions build up with each treatment, the tissue is able to repair itself more completely.
The "charge" on the tissue begins to hold on its own and its ability to generate its own normal energy is restored. In most cases of neuro-muscular pathology, a series of treatments leads to permanent relief.
Are there side effects?
The most common side effect is the reduction and elimination of pain. As a result of the increased detoxification, patients may experience atypical symptoms including but not limited to diarrhea, night sweats, headaches, nausea, flu-like symptoms etc. This is actually a good sign indicating that something is shifting in the body and the toxins are ready to ‘move out.’
I have _____________ condition. Can these treatments help me?
Yes, we have overseen treatments resulting in a reduction of pain in a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including the following:
• Wound healing
• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
• Broken Bones
• Soft Tissue regeneration
• Chronic Fatigue
Osteo and Rheumatoid
• Hearing and Balance
• Plantar Fasciitis
• Nerve Entrapment
• Bell’s palsy
• Acute & Chronic Back Pain
We have tried many other forms of therapy with no long term benefit, will the Electro-Acuscope / Myopulse treatments help me/my animal?
These instruments deliver a different type of treatment than any other form of pain management. It is very often effective where nothing else has been able to help in the past. As long as you or your animal is not in need of surgical intervention there is a very good chance of success.
Following the recommendations and protocols that your technician sets for you are also a crucial part of your success.
